Ipplepen Carnival Week
The Ipplepen Carnival Club has been a cornerstone of our community since the 1950s, originally established to raise funds for the building of the village hall and playing field. Over the years, it has evolved into a vibrant tradition that brings people of all ages together to celebrate creativity and community spirit.
In recent years, the carnival presence has grown significantly. They’ve gone from a 25ft tow-along float trailer to a 30ft self-propelled float, and now to an impressive 54ft self-propelled float with a trailer. This evolution showcases the hard work and dedication of the committee and volunteers, as well as the strong community support that drives their success.
In addition to hosting our own carnival, they proudly participate in three carnival circuits spanning two counties: the South Devon Circuit, the East Devon Circuit, and the Somerset Guy Fawkes Circuit. These events give them the opportunity to showcase Ipplepen’s creativity and join in the wider celebration of carnival culture.
Their website is a hub for updates, photos, and information about getting involved. Together, we can continue to grow and honour the legacy of over 70 years, keeping the Ipplepen Carnival a cherished highlight of village life.
