Senior Sous Chef, full-time, £32-35k
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to help manage our catering operation. We serve a wide range of customers, including members, visiting golfers, business meetings, lunch buffets, weddings and evening functions.
We are a busy venue, but we promote a healthy work/life balance. We are closed Christmas Day, staff work av. 40-hrs pw with no split shifts, and evening service is for private functions only, so if nothing is booked, it’s an early night! Our USP is the familiar feel we generate among staff and customers, which creates a relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout the club.
Our kitchen has recently undergone a £75k refit, including a brand new cookline, extraction and cold storage. The role is full time flexible hours. Salary ranges from £32-35k depending on experience.
What You’ll Do
Leadership and Management:
- Support and assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations.
- Oversee and supervise kitchen staff, including chefs and porters.
- Mentor, train, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen team members.
- Run the kitchen and lead the team in the Head Chef's absence.
Culinary Operations:
- Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and served to the highest standards.
- Participate in menu creation, costing, and the development of new dishes.
- Control food quality and presentation across all kitchen areas.
Kitchen & Cost Management:
- Manage stock levels, perform stock takes, and control inventory.
- Place food orders and manage purchasing costs to align with budget.
- Minimize food waste and optimize kitchen efficiency.
Health, Safety, and Standards:
- Implement and enforce food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Conduct visual checks and formal audits to ensure compliance and report on issues.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure proper use of stock.

Course Manager, full-time, competetive salary depending on experience
The Role
Dainton Park is a busy 18-hole parkland golf club and restaurant located in South Devon, designed by Adrian Stiff, opened in 1993. Proprietary owned, the course benefits from continuous investment and improvement. Recent upgrades include new greens and tees irrigation, and extensive drainage upgrades on 18 greens and seven fairways. Plans are in place to increase the capacity of the driving range from ten to 16 bays and install Toptracer technology.
We are looking for a Course Manager to maintain the high standards of the golf course and practise facilities and continue the progressive work. The successful candidate will have excellent technical knowledge, good management and organizational skills, a strong work ethic and a hands-on approach.
The position is full time, average 40-hrs pw including weekends when required
What You’ll Do
- Maintain the golf course to the highest standards in an environmentally sustainable manner
- Recommend and implement course improvements
- Manage a comprehensive inventory of amenity products, ensuring proper use and storage
- Financial management, including budget responsibility and cost monitoring
- Maintain an up-to-date fleet of machinery, keeping logs of maintenance and operator training
- Manage a team of six full time greens staff, including recruitment, training and performance appraisals
- Hire and manage contractors for specific projects
- Comply with health & safety legislation
- Communicate regularly with company directors and members
What You'll Offer
- A strong understanding of golf and a passion for green keeping
- Previous course management experience, or at least an advanced deputy role
- Minimum SVQ Level 3 Sports Turf Management, or equivalent
- PA1, 2 & 6 spraying qualification
- Competence in the operation of a modern computerized irrigation system and on-site weather station
- Excavator experience (desirable)
- Chainsaw license (desirable)
- Active interest in emerging technology and green keeping techniques
- Full UK driving license
- Mechanical knowledge
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Good communication skills
